I hate
how you hate
the curving and folding of yourself
As if
The only things worth loving
are unnatural.
I don't like how you paint
targets on your self-esteem,
as trigger points of failure.
I don't want to see
you writhing
to wet your toes in shallow waters
When
I know
You could
Instead
Plunge
into the depths
and find
yourself
in flight.
I will give you my dreams.
Your kisses said
you wanted them
to wrap, safe,
around fingers,
shoulders and waists,
enameled and lifted
(fluttering, floating, swimming)
in green
irises—
Eyes, I mean,
though flowers could be
an offering,
a platitude,
a token of sincerity,
a promise that you
would keep, safe,
what I've entrusted
as a tremendous secret
That you could press to my heart
so I would feel
A young woman named Gabriella loved making art, and practiced vectoring all day long to become the very best in all her town. But one day, she was completely stumped. She looked around her room, full of art pieces featuring mystical porpoises, sci-fi landscapes of a futuristic Atlantis, and a portrait of Steve Wozniak that looked so real, you could start a conversation with it. But nothing inspired her. Had she really created everything there was to create? Depressed, she looked out her window, and made a wish on a nearby hot dog for inspiration to return to her. The next morning, she sprung out of bed, and used her skill in vectoring to crea

you keep secrets like souvenirs.
your heart is a postage stamp,
your lungs, a pair of dusty
snow globes; I trace
a model Eiffel Tower
in the lines of your neck, an Arc
de Triomphe in the arch
of your back, a collection of
portraits
to rival the Louvre
assembled behind your eyes.
I gather each glimpse,
each fragment, every hint
of the things you've tried to hide
and hoard them
in the galleries of my mind,
curating my love for you
like a dense, Orphic art.
We are
one thought evolving into another,
leading on until
we begin
confusing what we don't understand
for what we can't understand,
reverting to symbology,
detailing
this is man, this is woman,
in crude fashion,
we are man,
we are woman,
O, A, B, positive, negative, A, B, X, X, Y,
we are
the dust of the earth,
the breath of God stirring us
until we dream we are flying,
believing that we are supporting the sky,

Hey ya'll!
I really was serious in my last journal entry about accepting challenges. I may be a little slow about finishing them up, but I could definitely use the creative boost of trying to figure out how to accomplish what you ask me to do.
So, here is the current challenge list:
1. "Go to the library, check out an anthology of modern short fiction, and read it all. After you finish, decide which story affected you the most emotionally. Read at least five more pieces from that author. Finally, write a short story in the style of that author, attempting to affect the same emotions in your audience that the first story you read by him or
Hello again!
It has been over a year since I wrote last. Crazy, really, what can (or cannot) happen in a year.
For those of you who are curious: yes, I did graduate; I am now the proud owner of a BFA in Graphic Design with two minors, one in Creative Writing and the other in Psychology.
After graduating, moving, and all that fun stuff, I began work on obtaining internships. Currently I am doing pro bono work for refugees, waiting for the verdict on an internship position at one of the largest businesses in my (current) state, and sending applications in for jobs across the country. The going is slow, though, because I am incredibly particu
I asked ~Tsume-Yamagata to do a sketch for me, so in the interest of 'all's fair in the world' I'm going to offer some sketches too.
SO, if you've ever wanted to see me sketch something, now is the time to ask!
