I want to leave this shell behind
as a crustacean might, finding it to be
too small, too
confining,
and leave it in order to search for new homes
unhindered.
I want to leave this, and take
nothing but the waves to clothe me,
to crash against them feverishly as I
head out to sea
with the other mammals,
back to our primordial birthing place,
to feel the warm nurture
of the lifeblood of the world.
I want to face a horizon
undaunted,
to take nothing but the reflection of the sky
and the deep caress of the abyss.
I want to give myself over to be held
in the embrace of a circle
that includes
everything.
